Olympia Indivisible members’ visit to the Tacoma office of Senators Murray and Cantwell on Tuesday, May 23
Senator Murray's Office
We thanked Senator Murray for her efforts to protect working people, our health care, and the environment, including the Hanford Reach National Monument. We thanked her, along with Senator Cantwell, for denouncing the Trump administration’s treat to withhold pre-approved funding for transit projects in 20 states, including $193 million in Washington State. We also thanked her for introducing legislation to make college more affordable and to protect nation-wide LGBTQ rights from credit discrimination.
We asked the Senator to vote for Senate Bill 27 to create an Independent Commission to investigate the Russian interference, to continue her opposition to TrumpCare, and to oppose voter suppression by not supporting the so-called Commission on “Election Integrity.” We also asked the Senator to exert pressure against Jeff Session’s new War on Drugs. Senator Murray’s South Sound Director, Kierra Phifer, offered us updated and insightful information to our questions.
