Kirsten Gillibrand is the subject of this post because she is one of the latest to declare a run for the office of President of the United States and there are interesting bits of history to find out. Declared candidate on 1-15-19.
The motive for these blogs is to become more knowledgeable about candidates and others who will be influential in the elections to come. When the debates finally arrive, we will have a heads up and will be able to fill-in the empty spots in our knowledge. The research for these blogs will concentrate on evidence of progressive values in their policy leanings.
So to Kirsten.
Kirsten Elizabeth Gillibrand is an American attorney and politician serving as the junior United States Senator from New York since January 2009. She previously held the position of U.S. Representative for New York's 20th congressional district from 2007 until her Senate appointment.
She is 52 and has a law degree from UCLA. The issue for us to consider is the age of the candidates. Is a 70+ candidate still able to maintain his/her health in the stress of the job of the President of the United States. 52 shouldn’t be a problem.
Obviously her opposition will throw her early views as part of a mud ball. My personal hope for the Democratic debates is that questions like that asking about her changes will be civil and not derogatory in nature. We will see…...
